Environmental justice, social justice, and ecosystem approach to health (ecohealth) are three closely related concepts that encapsulate my approach to environmental health issues and are vital components in my research.

 

Environmental justice can be defined as "the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race, color, national origin, or income with respect to the development, implementation, and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations, and policies." (EPA)

 

Ecohealth, in turn, sees health as an outcome of effective sustainable management of all components of the environment.
